EUROPEAN CONSULTATION ON THE PORTABILITY AND RECOGNITION OF PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
The deadline to respond to the European consultation on the portability and recognition of professional qualifications is 27 February 2026.
The objective of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion is to enable professionals and skilled workers to move more easily within the European Union by ensuring that their skills are recognised across the EU.
The Skills Portability initiative is a comprehensive package consisting of three interconnected actions: • Action 1: a potential legislative proposal aimed at facilitating worker mobility through greater transparency of skills and qualifications and through digitalisation; • Action 2: the identification of potential measures to facilitate, modernise and expand the recognition processes for regulated professions; • Action 3: a potential legislative proposal establishing common rules to simplify procedures for the recognition of the qualifications and skills of third-country nationals.
Anyone wishing to contribute to the discussion on the challenges related to the portability of qualifications and skills, as well as on possible policy measures to address them, can complete the questionnaire available on the following page.
