A Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is a geographically delineated area within the national borders of a country. Each SEZ consists of several sub-zones, not necessarily adjacent. However, all territories within the SEZ must share an economic and functional connection and include a port area as defined by Union guidelines for the development of the trans-European transport network.
Special Economic Zones (SEZs) aim to
- attract investments
- accelerate the growth of existing enterprises
- promote the creation of new businesses in the port areas and to strengthen the available logistic platforms (with a specific focus on their connection by railway).
The tools to achieve these objectives comprehend special tax benefits, the improvement of the Customs Single Window, the simplification of administrative procedures, burocracy reduction and other measures designed to intensify the connection between economic activities, infrastructures, warehousing and long-distance water transport.
Single Authorisation:
The SEZ’s Single Digital Gateway is the instrument through which all the companies interested in starting a business within the SEZ can submit their “Single Authorisation”.
It is available in English or Italian, and operates according to the highest technological standards.
The Single Authorisation is issued to the property owner whose building is located within the SEZ’s area or to anyone who is entitled to it.
