"Professional qualification" is a title which grants authorization for the practice of a certain profession in the country where it has been issued.

In order to practice a regulated profession in Italy on a permanent period and to have the “right of establishment”, it is necessary to request prior recognition of the relevant professional qualification from the competent Italian  authority.

Providers legally carrying out an activity in one of the countries of the European Union may exercise the same professional activity in Italy on a temporary and occasional basis, as a cross-border provision of services. When the provider of services that are  regulated in Italy moves in Italy for the first time from the State in which it is legally established, it is necessary to inform the competent Italian authority by means of a prior declaration.

The List of regulated professions and competent authorities includes all instructions for recognition of qualifications or presentation of the prior declaration.

Additional information can be found on the website of the Italian Help Centre for professional qualifications of the Department for European Policies.
